In the south, this District is bounded by Solan and in the southwest by Shimla and Kullu. History Of Mandi

The present district of Mandi was formed with the merger of two princely states Mandi and Suket on 15th April 1948. This is the same day when Himachal Pradesh came into Existence. Raja Ajber Sen is believed to found the Mandi Town and built the old palace with four towers.

Mandi State is predominantly an agricultural economy and bulk of the people is dependent on Agriculture for their living. How to Reach Mandi

By Air –  As of Now Mandi Doesn’t have its own Airport. So the nearest Airport would be in Kullu called Bhuntar. Distance from Bhuntar to mandi is 59 km Approx and distance can be mapped through Roadways buses or by hiring cabs.

By Road – Mandi is well connected to the Major cities of Himachal Pradesh and other cities of India as well. All means of transportation (Buses / Cabs) are easily available to reach there. And if you want a proper guided tour there you can easily find registered Guide there.

By Train –To reach Mandi the nearest Railway head is at Joginder Nagar which is 59 km. A proposed plan is to extend Kangra Valley Railway line to Mandi is Submitted. From joinder Nagar, you can board a bus or can hire a cab.
