Kangra Is believed to be the 1st serving royal Dynasty in The world Katoch. The history of this place is based on Vedas and Puranas. This place was known as the Trigarta kingdom who was headed by the Katoch Dynasty ( 1st Dynasty Among Rajputs).
The founder of this dynasty was Susharma Chand who sided with Kauravas in Mahabharata. The people of Trigarta are mentioned to be Warriors who earn their livelihood by Fighting.
Though Kangra was ruled by numerous kings but the most famous king of Katoch dynasty was Raja Sansar Chand. Kangra has some beautiful places to visit for eg. Dharamshala, Rock cut Masroor temple and much more.

1 Rock Cut Masroor temple
Masroor Rock Cut temple is a beautiful ancient temple carved out of Rock is in the Masroor of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. This is also famous by the name Ellora of Himachal and is being maintained by ASI.
This is a group of 15 temples carved out of Rock belongs to Monolithic age. this temple is 31 kilometers away from Kangra and can be reached through Road only.This group of the Temple is the great example of the Indo-Aryan style of architecture and is among the list of best historic places in India.
2 Jawala Ji Temple
Jwala Ji is a famous shakti Peeth is the most ancient temple along with Vaishno Devi in India. This temple is Located in the district of Kangra of Himachal Pradesh, India is one of its kind. If you go and visit this temple you will not find any statue of Goddess there instead a Flame coming out of the Earth is worshiped here, which is why it is Called Jawala Ji ( Goddess with Flames). Dharamshala is 51 kilometers away from Kangra town is a very beautiful high altitude place famous for the Dalai Lama and Mcleodganj. This place is at the height of 7800 feet from mean sea level and is the winter capital of Himachal Pradesh. Before the Britishers, it was under the rule of Katoch Rulers and afterward, it was under British rule.
After the Indepence it was merged to Himachal Pradesh and it is the habitat for large numbers of Monk. If you ever visit Dharamshala it is very common to find monks roaming here and there in the market place.Dharamshala is considered one of the best place to visit in India with folks or family.
4 Kangra Fort ( Nagarkot Fort)
Kangra Fort is located in the outskirt of Kangra, 21 kilometers away from Famous hill town Dharamshala. This fort belongs to the Katoch Dynasty which was founded by Susharma Chand who is mentioned in Mahabharata for siding with Kauravas. This fort was ceded to Sikhs in the 19th century after the death of Sansar Chand.This fort was one of the strongest forts in India until most parts of it destroyed in 1905 due to the earthquake.
Adjoining to this fort there is a museum of Raja Sansar Chand which is run by Royal family members. This place is best suited to them who has the interest in the History of monuments of India.
5 Dhauladhar National park
The Dhauladhar national park is a zoo located 13 kilometers away from Palampur is rich with fauna and flora.This park is home to different types of deer, red fox, leopards and Black bear. This is a nice place to spend some time to watch these animals in their natural habitat. this could be included in the list if you are visiting nearby Kangra.
6 Maharana Pratap Sagar Sanctuary
This place is also known as Pong dam is created on Beas river on Shivalik Hills was constructed in 1975.This is one of the 26 international wetland sites declared by India. Pong dam is the important fishing reservoir in Himachal Pradesh.
This reservoir is connected to All major places of Himachal Pradesh by Road.This reservoir is bounded by Dhauldhar ranges which are famous among tourists for trekking activities. this reservoir has more than 200 species of Birds.
7 Bajreshwari Devi Temple
Bajreshwari Devi Temple is located in Nagarkot in Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. This is 11 kilometers away from Kangra District.According to a legend when Sati sacrificed herself in the Yajna of Daksha and Lord shiva took her in his Arms and started doing Tandava. So to Stop The World from getting destroyed from the wrath of Lord Shiva Lord Vishnu Pierced her body into 51 parts with his Sudarshan Chakra and the breast is believed to be fall here thus is Shaktipeeth.
8 Baijnath Temple
Baijnath temple is located in the small town of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh is dedicated to Lord Shiva.This temple is said to have around 1000 years old and is a beautiful piece of Indian Architecture and is Visited by a large number of people across the nation.
9 Dal Lake
Dal lake is located in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. This lake is surrounded by the deodar trees and on the bank of This lake, there is a temple dedicated to lord shiva. This lake is considered pious and visited by local people often.
