1 Ratha Yatra –

The Rathas are big wooden structures accommodated with large wheels, which are built every year and are pulled by the devotees. The chariot for Lord  Jagannatha is about 45 feet in height and 35 sqft wide and takes almost 2 months to get it completed.

The chariot of Jagannath is mounted with 16 wheels, each of 7 feet in diameters. The carving in the front face of the chariot has four wooden horses drawn by Lord Hanuman. On its other three faces, the wooden carvings are of Shri Rama, Surya Dev, and  Shri Vishnu Bhagwan.

According to tradition, the original temple was built by the grandson of Lord Krishna in the honor of Shree Krishna. The temple became part of the Char Dham pilgrimage considered sacred by Hindus in India.

The current temple is in Chalukya style is constructed in 15-16th century. The temple covers area of 28.5 meters by 22.5 meters with the east-west length of 29 meter and north-south width of 23 meters. The tallest peak of the temple is approx 52 m high.

15 Bodh Gaya


Bodh Gaya is a sacred site of Buddhists associated with Mahabodhi temple complex is in the city of Gaya in Bihar state of North India. This place is believed to be the place where Mahatma Buddha received enlightenment.

For Buddhists  this site is the most important of the four pilgrimage sites related to Mahatma Buddha.The Mahabodhi temple complex is UNESCO World heritage Site.
